KDE4 released
Monday, 14 January 2008

KDE 4 was released on the eleventh and I haven't really had time to play with it. Since Kubuntu has a live cd I gave it a spin. This is really nice if you want to check it out without installing anything. I was impressed and disappointed. I think I will wait to put it on my machine and play with it, juts seemed to me like a hacked KDE. The widgets are nice but I couldn't figure out how to resize the stupid panel and if I have less control over theming I don't see the point because it is still nothing more than KDE 3 and Superkaramba. For more information check out KDE and Plasma sites.

Natural Paint Apps on Linux
Sunday, 30 December 2007

I had a chance to play with a couple of programs that have interested me for awhile. One is MyPaint and the other is Gogh. I have never gotten Gogh to run before so I was happy it actually ran. I am on Ubuntu 7.10 btw. Both are similar to Deep Paint/ Corel Painter natural paint programs on Windows and utilize the full potential of your drawing tablet.

Building OpenVeoh
Monday, 24 December 2007

I have been using Veoh TV on Windows and really like it. I found great content like all the Lexx episodes and lots of great Asian horror movies. So naturally being a Linux guy I looked for a Linux version and found OpenVeoh!

Open Veoh is no longer under development nor is it supported. Kind of sucks, but I understand where the developer is coming from... Either way, it compiles great on Ubuntu 7.10 and works well; although, is very slow...

Ubuntu goodies
Monday, 10 December 2007

If you're a devout Ubuntu loyalist but really dig the way Elive looks you can now have the best of both worlds! GEUbuntu was one that I had missed, but thanks to a friend at work I gave it a spin. Looks really awesome and I have alway been a fan of Enlightenment. I spent a good deal of time getting Ubuntu Studio the way I want it so I am not ready to ditch it yet, but when I decide to reload again, GEUbuntu will be top on my list.

I must mention these as I found these to be really nice. If you are looking for some really kick ass Ubuntu, Ubuntu Satanic Edition , and Ubuntu studio 3-D screen savers you will love these, Eternity Screensavers! There are also some nice wallpapers there as well.

Enjoy!

Theme the crap out of Ubuntu 7.10
Thursday, 06 December 2007

So I am just playing around, but I figure this may help someone. Never mind that I am being very lazy! I figure why rewrite all this crap since there are instructions out here? I figure why not just get those that worked rather than spending time figuring out this and that myself. If nothing else I got to crack on my wife's Mac again, considering my Ubuntu desktop looks very much like it now and I have cooler effects and free software!
