I haven't really had a chance to write but there are a couple of things I wanted to mention. One is that  I have added another gauge to the SWF gauges. You can download or read about them here. These are not totally complete, need work, cleaned up, etc. but they work very well if you need live metering in a web page for a Dashboard.

Awhile ago I wrote about an open movie created in Blender called Elephants Dream.  I wanted to mention that they are working on the second film and can use a little money and/or support. It's a very cool project so check it out, Peach open movie .  

I will be updating the software list soon, but there hasn't been a lot of interesting finds lately. Honestly, there are plenty of great lists out here so I have been slowing down on it.
