I replaced my laptop drive for a larger
drive and decided to go ahead and load Tribe 5. I was blown away!
Install was a breeze as usual, but once installed I was amazed to
find that my Wacom Graphire II tablet, my ATI M10 video card
required no configuration at all. Also was greeted my my Windows XP
NTFS drive mounted in read/write! Wow!
Now trust me on this. I installed Windows
XP on half the drive, which I have not done for over two years. I
have been running Kubuntu exclusively, but I miss Poser, Zbrush,
Cinema 4D, and Photoshop so I decided to dual boot again. Let me
just say, what took about 15 for Kubuntu took over three hours in
XP! After installing XP I had no drivers for my hardware so after
finding and downloading them I found myself with hours of update,
reboot, repeat! Linux now is easier to install than Windows ever
was, Linux updates everything at one time without reboots, and
adding DVD playback is trivial where in Windows you have to buy or
find a player, which most are based off Linux software so... I am
proud to say, Linux is finally here in it's full glory.
I know some Windows people will still deny this, but whatever. The
Ubuntu, and alterations thereof, people deserve a beer and much
love for one of the best operating systems ever made! Now if I can
just have these few applications on Linux I could say goodbye to
Windows forever.
I could write about all the latest features, but why? Everything I
wrote about, setting up this or that, is no longer valid. I didn't
setup a thing on Tribe, nuff said! I will admit, it's a little
more pleasing to the eye on the login screen though. It's already
solid, very stable so if you have the space give it a try, you will
nto be dissapointed.
