Open Flash Gauges for Javascript: Release date May 17, 2009

These are the same gauges and meters except these are released under the Apache 2.0 license and are updated using Javascript instead of server side code. If you wish to use a Javascript toolkit, web form, and/or Ajax to update these gauges get this set, otherwise read on. Be aware, it is likely the server side versions will go away at some point.

If you have problems unzipping try 7-Zip

Open JS Flash Gauges Version 1.0

The server side versions:

PHP and ASP examples included, but can use any language including Ruby or Python. GPL version 2 or higher license.

Limitations :  Possible there could be heavy server loads due to the amount of requests these objects make. I would not put a ton of these on a heavy traffic site! I have a dashboard running all of these and seem to have no problems.

BUG: there is a bug when setting "custom" data source, it will not work so it must be updated from ../flash/flashdata.asp (or ../flash/flashdata.php), which is the hardcoded default. This bug is fixed in version 1.0.1 thanks Tyrell Perera.

MISC

See the Canvas/Javascript Gauge example here. Gauge and updating all in Javascript, no Flash...

Mootools Ajax updating Canvas gauge updated June 1, 2009:

Mootools , ajax, JSON, and the pure Canvas\JS gauge,  a pure javascript gauge that is updated live getting data in JSON format via an Ajax request made via periodical . Gauge now only updates when the data has changed. Because this gauge uses the canvas tag it works on the iPhone.

Example adding a Flash gauge object using Mootools 1.2 and updating the Flash using Ajax and periodical

5/10/2008: Example of a Flash gauge updated using Mootools 1.2 Request.json() for live updating, which can be found here . If you want to learn how to add a Flash object using Mootools and send a variable to Flash automatically without manual data input this will be good for you to take a look at. It's super easy too...
