With all the iPhone competition on the way like the Instinct one can't help but notice all the talk about what the iPhone lacks. Do you really believe Apple is this short sighted?
Apple is far from that! No video capture , no turn by turn directions, no streaming TV , no picture messaging ? Bullshit! A jailbroke iPhone running 1.1.4 had most of that except turn by turn driving, but hey the damned phone just got GPS and does a pretty good job without it if you ask me. I think it's all strategy! Other than the battery not being user replacable, just imagine the average idiot prying the case open with a butter knife and the results of such action, the damned phone is pretty damned amazing. No phone I have played with yet comes close to the iPhone and show me another smartphone that has a full 3-D FPS . You can't! What people are missing here is the phone can already do what they say it cannot and these applications already exist, just not officially. So here is the strategy don't pay to develop and support these applications, let someone pay you to develop video capture, mms, turn by turn directions, and streaming tv on the iPhone. Also let them deal with support! You will see these in the AppStore eventually and that is all Apple has to worry about once the fear of 3G newness fades away and they allow heavier use of the OS. Just remember that Apple is good about holding onto secrets, does a hell of a job fixing things without notice, and learns from it's customers actions. This phone will only get better as the compitition grows, trust me.
