One of the coolest video players I've seen in the open source arena to date.

Democracy player is one hell of a video player, it not only plays video on your system, but it makes a playlist of both local and video via the Internet. Subscribe to video blogs and podcasts, download Google and YouTube video, it even has bittorrent. For a full list of features and supported codex give them a visit.

I installed it on my Linux machine, Kubuntu Edgy, using Adapt package manager. Was flawless install, but it bombed on startup with a Java error and it didn't add an entry to the menu. No big deal, install Java JRE 5 add a menu entry, and your ready to go. I would think this might happen about the same on any distro so you might want to just install JRE first. It also locked up on me when trying to playback one video, but it's fairly new and it's targeted at Gnome so I can't complain, plus it's GPL!

On Mac this application really shined. Installation was the typical drag and drop and upon startup the application gives you the choice to search for video, which I did. Found them all and they all play great. Also ran great on WIndows; although, I ran it in VMWare so it was a tad slow getting video off the net.

If your looking for an all around solid video player with web features Democracy player is for you.
