My absolute favorite Linux terminal applications and utilities

Here are 15 of my absolute favorite terminal applications and utilities! These are simply the best of the best, in my opinion.

    Beautiful and well designed RSS/Atom News reader that is easy to use.

    Podcast Client. The best way to listen to podcasts while getting some work done.

  3. youtube-tui
    YouTube Client. It’s crazy we can browse YouTube. Requires the mpv or videolan video player. Would be cool if they integrated the player into the app.

  4. aerc
    Easy to configure and use email client. It may not as powerful as NeoMutt, but it’s top notch if you simply need a fast email client.

  5. calcurse
    Calendar/Event management done right. Can be tricky to get some calendar services setup, but once you do, this is fast and efficient.

  6. caligula
    Disk imaging/USB burner. Replaced Balena Etcher for me. Way faster and has never failed me.

  7. fresh
    Text Editor reminiscent of the early nineties programmer text editors I once used, but with more features.

  8. kew
    Blazingly fast music player. If you just want to listen to your local music collection, this is the way to go.

    Internet Radio Player. Search and add stations, simple to use, and just works.

    Disk usage information right at your fingertips.

    File Manager similar to ranger and the likes. I find this to be superfast and opens all my documents, including ebooks with a little config.

    Arch AUR Security Tool. All I can say,this is an amazing tool. You can check the safety of AUR packages installed or not. When updates come in it will also provide information on AUR updates.

    Password Manager that is easy to use that stays out of your way.

  14. lazyjournal
    Linux log viewer for systemd, audit, docker, etc. You name it, it does it. Great search features.

    System monitor/information that simply looks awesome. Everything you need to monitor your system right in the terminal.
